Cookies in brief: two notes and one map

The kinds of note in use

The website uses your browser's local storage rather than ordinary tracking cookies. Local storage holds two short entries, both described in the table below. They remember choices you have already made, so that the age notice and the cookie notice do not ask the same question at every page.

The default is off

Until you click Accept, no optional storage is switched on. The cookie notice appears once, and your answer is remembered. Declining or ignoring the notice does not stop you reading the site or sending a booking request.

Measurement tags

A placeholder is in place for a simple visit counter, but it is disabled and loads nothing at present. If it is ever switched on, it will start only after you accept, and this page will be updated first to describe exactly what it measures.

The map on the contact page

The map on the Our front door page is supplied by Google and loads as soon as that page opens, before any choice is made. Google may set its own cookies when it does. If you would rather avoid that, use the address in text form and open a map yourself.

Why local storage, not tracking cookies

Local storage is simpler and stays inside your own browser: nothing is sent to the hall each time you load a page, and nothing is shared with other websites. We chose it because it does the two small jobs we need and cannot be used to follow a visitor from site to site.

What is never stored

The website stores no names, no email addresses, no booking details and no payment information in your browser. The booking form sends its message once, when you submit it, and the browser forgets it again as soon as you leave the page.

Changing your choice

To undo your choice, clear this site's data in your browser settings. The age notice and the cookie notice will then appear again on your next visit, and you can answer them differently. Nothing else is needed.
